Radio Production - SNC Live Evaluation

For the radio Production we were asked to create a Station Ident a News Jingle and a Show Promo, for the radio station called SNC Live.

The software that we used for this was called Adobe Sound Booth, with this software we recorded our voice using the built in microphone on the imac, and then we edited it on the software. We added sound effects from the sound library on the software to make are radio clips more exciting. Another thing what you could do on the software was that you could trim the ends off the audio clips so that way you wouldn’t end up with any audio that you didn’t want.

- Station Ident: I think that my station ident worked out very well because it had some exciting music and I also overlaid my voice on it to make it sound more repetitive so that people could understand the stations name easier.
The station ident lasted for 11secs; this was just the right length because station idents are mostly just saying the name of the station, people don’t normally want to listen to a very long ident.

- News Jingle: With my news Jingle I used the same music as on the station ident but I added a little bit more to it to make it sound a bit more exciting another reason was because I had a little bit more to say so the music had to be a little bit more longer. I think that my voice sounded good how I repeated it, this made it more exciting.
My news jingle lasted for 22secs; what was long enough because with this I am mostly just saying what is going on in the show to make people more aware of what is going on, on the station.

- Show promo: I think that my show promo sounded very good and professional, I think a reason for this was because I started talking at the same time as the music started so that people could hear me straight away rather than waiting. I also used the same music again but I made it last a lot longer so that it did not finish before I stopped talking.
My show promo lasted for 1minute, the reason why it lasted longer was because it was an introduction to the station so that people would know what to expect when it first went on air.

I was very surprised how easy I found working with the software because when I first loaded it up I didn’t have a clue on what to do but I soon got the hang of it.

The one problem that I had was that when I was recording you could sometimes hear other people in the background talking, but then when I put my voice over the music on the software you didn't hear anyone else talking. But apart from that it all went very smoothly and it turned out very good, and the feedback from the rest of the class was very promising.
